I just adopted a couple of cats and for the most part they get along okay, but I have two behavioural questions.
1) Every now and then the two cats "playfight". One of the cats has a slight leg condition, so it appears at time that she over-compenstates by going for the neck of the other cat and repeatedly jumping on the stronger cat when she's trying to sleep. Their playing usually ends with both of them with their ears down and defensive, but so far no one has gotten hurt. Any other indicators that I should look for?
2) Always when I'm going to sleep the two cats decide to wake up and run around the house for about 30 minutes. I have no problem with this except that it's right before I'm going to sleep. Are there any kind of suggestions for shifting this play time to before I go to sleep, like tiring them out, separating them, or some other method. This problem is slightly worse because ever day the next morning, I find that paper towels or toilet paper have been the target of some of this play.
Thanks for your help and again I'd prefer to have someone that can offer solutions from personal experience. At the very least, I need to see some information in your profile.
